男，博士，香港中文大学物理系讲座教授，理学院院长，许昌学院客座教授。 1976年本科毕业于香港中文大学化学系，1982获University of British Columbia化学博士学位。1986-1993年任加拿大西安大略大学Surface Science Western高级研究员；1993-1995年任加拿大西安大略大学材料工程系副教授，1995-1997年任加拿大西安大略大学材料工程系教授；1997-2000年任香港中文大学材料科学系教授、系主任；1998-2003年任香港中文大学物理系教授、系主任；2001-2003年任香港中文大学材料科学和技术研究中心主任；1998年至今任香港中文大学先进表面材料测试分析中心主任；2002年至今任香港中文大学科学技术研究所主任；2003年至今任任香港中文大学理学院院长。曾主持完成过数十项国外及香港资助项目。其研究工作已发表SCI收录论文近200篇，其中有数十篇发表在影响因子为3以上的学术杂志上。 代表性论文及专利： 专利: 1.R.W.M.
